A fresh controversy surrounding the suspension of Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has taken another turn after former Edo State Governor and Edo North Senator Adams Oshiomhole clarified remarks he made about the Senate committee report linked to the disciplinary action.
Oshiomhole stated that reports suggesting he accused lawmakers of forging signatures in the document that recommended Natasha’s suspension were inaccurate and did not reflect his actual comments.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the senator explained that his remarks during an interview with African Independent Television were misunderstood.
He maintained that he never alleged that signatures belonging to senators were forged, but rather highlighted a concern reportedly raised by a member of the committee involved in the matter.
According to Oshiomhole, the issue raised was that a senator who participated in the committee process claimed that attendance signatures of some lawmakers were included in the final report presented.
“The insinuation that I said signatures of Senators were forged is a complete misrepresentation of what I actually said,” Oshiomhole said.
He added that his only comment was based on the claim made by a committee member regarding the attachment of attendance records to the report.
