NSCDC Boss Visits Injured Personnel Following Bandit Attack

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has visited personnel injured in a recent attack by Boko Haram insurgents. The attack targeted the Special Squad tasked with protecting national grid installations in Shiroro Local Government Area, Niger State.

Commendation and Support

During his visit to the medical facilities where the injured personnel are being treated, Audi praised their bravery and commitment. He assured them that the NSCDC would cover all their medical expenses and meet their welfare needs.

“The courage and determination shown by our personnel in the line of duty are commendable. They deserve every support from the Corps and the government they serve,” Audi stated.

Condemnation of the Attack

Audi strongly condemned the ambush, describing it as a brutal and senseless act of violence. He extended condolences to the families of the fallen officers and pledged that the Corps would provide necessary support, including group personal accident and group life insurance benefits, to cushion the impact of the incident.

Status Update on Missing Officers

The NSCDC Special Squad, which included operatives from the National Headquarters, FCT, and Kaduna State commands, was ambushed during an inspection tour near the boundary between Niger and Kaduna states.

  • Seven personnel were initially declared missing.
  • Four bodies have been recovered.
  • Two personnel returned safely to base.
  • One officer remains unaccounted for.

Leadership Commitment

Audi emphasized the Corps’ dedication to the welfare of its personnel, reassuring them of the leadership’s unwavering support.
“This visit is to ensure those affected know they are not alone. The Corps will continue prioritizing their welfare, especially in critical situations like this,” he said.
