Northern Senators Back Tinubu’s Military Expansion Plan, Call for Better Funding and Faster Security Reforms

The senators condemned the attack on Efeyi Community in Ugboju, Otukpo Local Government Area, where armed attackers reportedly killed 13 people during an early morning assault on July 28. Several other residents sustained injuries, while security personnel have since been deployed to stabilize the area.

Kaduna State

The forum equally expressed concern over an earlier attack in Naridon Village, Kamaru Ward, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where approximately 30 people, including women and children, lost their lives on July 26. Homes were also reportedly destroyed during the incident.

Combined, the two attacks claimed at least 43 lives, highlighting the continuing security challenges confronting affected communities.

Appeal for Community Cooperation

Beyond military reforms, the senators stressed that intelligence gathering remains critical to tackling insecurity.

They encouraged residents across affected communities to maintain close cooperation with security agencies by sharing credible and timely information that could help prevent future attacks and support ongoing operations.

The lawmakers also urged the Federal Government to ensure that those responsible for the attacks are identified, arrested, and prosecuted, while calling for humanitarian assistance for displaced persons and affected families.
