Tinubu Declares End to Abandoned Projects, Promises Nationwide Infrastructure Expansion

President Bola Tinubu has declared that Nigeria has entered a new phase where government projects, particularly road and infrastructure developments, will no longer be started without being completed.

The President made the declaration during the commissioning of the newly completed Gomani-Dafa-Yangoji Road project in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), an event marking three years of his administration.

Represented at the ceremony by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Tinubu said his administration would continue to prioritize infrastructure projects across Nigeria’s states, with the aim of transforming the country into a developed economy.

13km FCT Road Project Commissioned

The newly completed Gomani-Dafa-Yangoji road covers about 13 kilometres and connects communities within the Kwali area of the FCT.

According to the President, the road represents a practical example of his administration’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, emphasizing that development should be measured through completed projects rather than promises.

He explained that improved road networks are expected to strengthen access to markets, schools, healthcare services, and economic opportunities, especially for communities outside major urban centres.

Government Says Infrastructure Must Reach Rural Communities

Tinubu noted that for many years, inadequate transport networks limited the growth potential of rural communities.

He highlighted challenges faced by farmers and residents in remote areas, where poor roads often affected the movement of agricultural goods and reduced access to economic opportunities.

The President stated that infrastructure development should not be concentrated only in major cities, arguing that rural communities also require reliable roads and public facilities to support national growth.

Speaking at the commissioning, Tinubu said the Federal Government would focus on completing projects already started while ensuring new projects receive proper funding and maintenance plans.

According to him, road construction would continue across local government areas, states, and communities until Nigeria achieves stronger development outcomes.
