Sanwo-Olu Reaffirms Commitment to Fairness as Oworonshoki Residents Receive Compensation

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has once again emphasized his administration’s dedication to fairness, openness, and the protection of Lagosians affected by the removal of structurally unstable and environmentally dangerous buildings across the state.

The governor restated that every resident displaced during these regulatory demolitions will receive the appropriate support, financial recompense, and resettlement packages designed to ease the transition and restore stability to their lives.

This renewed assurance was delivered during the presentation of the second batch of financial compensation to affected members of the Oworonshoki community. Their properties had been cleared recently as part of ongoing enforcement of Lagos State environmental and safety standards.

Sanwo-Olu noted that the exercise was not punitive but part of the government’s obligation to safeguard lives, prevent building collapses, and maintain a sustainable urban environment. He highlighted that the state will continue to prioritize the welfare of impacted families while strengthening measures to prevent unlawful constructions.

The governor encouraged residents to adhere strictly to building codes, adding that urban renewal efforts will be carried out with compassion and transparent communication. He assured the community that the government remains committed to supporting them throughout the resettlement process.
