An Israeli airstrike targeted Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, Gaza, on Sunday, resulting in five casualties, including a senior Hamas figure, according to Palestinian health authorities and Hamas representatives.

Targeted Strike on Hospital’s Surgery Department

The Gaza Health Ministry reported that the attack struck the surgery department of Nasser Hospital. The Israeli military, in response, stated that the operation was based on extensive intelligence and involved precision-guided munitions to minimize collateral damage.

Senior Hamas Official Among the Dead

Hamas confirmed that Ismail Barhoum, a member of its political office, was among those killed in the strike. While Israel’s Defense Minister, Israel Katz, confirmed that Barhoum was the intended target, the Israeli military referred to him only as a “key terrorist in Hamas.”

Escalation in the Conflict

Following a period of relative calm in the ongoing war, violence has escalated again. Israeli forces launched a renewed air and ground campaign against Hamas on Tuesday, effectively nullifying a previous ceasefire. As a result, many residents in Gaza are once again fleeing for safety.
