The counter-crime operation, carried out as part of Operation Lafiyan Jama’a, was based on credible intelligence indicating illegal activities near the Youth Centre in Sabon Layi, Mangu. According to an official statement released on Sunday, troops engaged a cattle rustling syndicate in an intense exchange of gunfire, forcing the criminals to abandon the stolen livestock and escape. Arrest and Recovery of Stolen Cattle and Arms During the raid, security operatives captured 29-year-old Nashak Wilson from Jwakkom Village, Mangu LGA. He was found in possession of an AK-47 rifle loaded with two rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. Furthermore, military forces recovered 30 stolen cows, which were later returned to their rightful owner, Alhaji Yakuba Musa of Kwahas Village. Security Agencies Intensify Search for Fleeing Suspects The arrested suspect, along with the confiscated weapons, has been placed in military custody for further investigation. Meanwhile, security operatives are intensifying efforts to track down the remaining members of the rustling syndicate. Authorities urge residents to report suspicious activities to help curb rising cases of cattle theft and armed crime in Plateau State.
