The wife of retired Assistant-Inspector General of Police and former Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has been abducted by gunmen in the Arepo area of Ogun State.
The incident occurred around 9 p.m. on Thursday when masked assailants intercepted her Lexus Jeep near her residence. The attackers forcefully dragged her from the vehicle and took her to an undisclosed location.
Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the abduction to reporters in Abeokuta on Friday. She disclosed that a team of officers led by the Divisional Police Officer has been dispatched to search the swampy bush terrain where the incident occurred.
Odutola added, “The Baale of Warewa and Maaba communities have also been contacted to mobilize local security units for additional support in the riverine areas.”
In a Related Incident: A tragic case has also emerged from Katsina State, where a 12-year-old boy, Salihu Sadi, was killed by suspected kidnappers. Sadi, from Dankama town in the Kaita Local Government Area, was reportedly abducted on January 11, 2025, around 8 p.m. while running an errand for his mother.
The Katsina State Police Command confirmed the incident during a press briefing on January 15. Police spokesperson DSP Abubakar Sadiq revealed that the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of ₦25 million. Despite the family’s efforts to negotiate, the suspects refused to release the boy and eventually killed him, abandoning his body on the outskirts of Dankama town.
