Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, has praised the strength and influence of four Brentford players following his team’s hard-fought 2-2 Premier League draw against the Bees on Saturday.
The Blues traveled to the Gtech Community Stadium, where both teams shared the spoils in a highly competitive encounter. Goals came from Kevin Schade, Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo, and Fabio Carvalho, ensuring the match ended level.
According to LMSINT Media reports, Brentford’s equalizer came from a powerful long throw that unsettled Chelsea’s defense, once again exposing the threat the Bees possess in set-piece situations.
When asked about his side’s performance during his post-match interview, Maresca emphasized the danger posed by Brentford’s players. He particularly singled out Michael Kayode, Mathias Jensen, Ethan Pinnock, and Kevin Schade, describing them as extremely dangerous on the pitch.
“The issue is that they have Kayode, they have Jensen, they have Pinnock, they have Schade,” Maresca stated. “By the end of the game, three of them were already substituted, leaving just Schade. Unfortunately, we still conceded within the final three minutes.”
The Chelsea boss admitted his team made conscious efforts to contain the threat, knowing Brentford’s physical presence and ability to get into the six-yard box with ease could cause serious problems. Despite Chelsea’s efforts, Brentford’s resilience ensured they walked away with a valuable point.
This result leaves both clubs tied with one point each, further intensifying the battle in the Premier League standings.
