Popular Nigerian content creator Peller has been granted bail by a Magistrate’s Court in Lagos after spending four days in police detention over allegations linked to obstructing law enforcement officers during an encounter in the state.
The court, sitting on Tuesday, admitted the social media personality to bail in the sum of ₦500,000, allowing him to remain free while legal proceedings continue.
Arrest Followed Viral Confrontation With Police
Peller’s legal troubles began on Friday, when he was arrested after an encounter with police officers in the Lekki area of Lagos.
The incident quickly gained public attention after videos circulated on social media showing the TikToker confronting officers. In the footage recorded before his arrest, Peller claimed he was stopped because he was driving a newly acquired vehicle with tinted windows and no registration plate.
He further alleged that officers handled him roughly by pulling his shirt, pointing a firearm at him, and insisting on taking him into custody. Those claims have not been independently verified by authorities.
Following the arrest, police transferred him to the Ikeja Police Station, where he remained in detention until he was brought before the court.
Charges Filed Against Peller
At Tuesday’s court proceedings, Peller appeared alongside Bello Oladipo to answer a three-count charge filed by the police.
According to the charges, the defendants are accused of:
- Obstructing police officers while they were carrying out their official duties.
- Engaging in conduct likely to disturb public peace.
- Conspiring to commit a felony.
The court subsequently granted Peller bail set at ₦500,000, pending further hearings in the case.

The case has attracted widespread discussion because it involves one of Nigeria’s best-known online personalities and follows a viral video that generated competing narratives about what transpired during the police encounter.
Supporters of the TikToker have questioned the circumstances surrounding his arrest, while others argue that investigations and court proceedings should be allowed to determine the facts.
