President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially emerged as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 general election after defeating fellow contestant Stanley Osifo in the party’s nationwide primary election.

According to the results announced during the ongoing national collation exercise held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, President Tinubu secured an overwhelming 10.99 million votes across the country.

His challenger, Stanley Osifo, garnered 16,504 votes from the direct primary exercise conducted in 8,809 wards nationwide.

The APC presidential primary election attracted the participation of party stakeholders, governors, coordinators, and collation officers from various states, all of whom submitted their respective results to the Presidential Primary Election Committee.

The committee, chaired by former Senate President Pius Anyim, supervised the collation and presentation of the final results at the national level in Abuja.

President Tinubu recorded a dominant performance across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), polling 100 percent of the votes in several states during the direct primary process.

Despite the president’s commanding victory, Osifo managed to record notable figures in some states. His strongest performances were seen in Niger State, where he received 5,248 votes, followed by Kano with 2,675 votes.

Additional support for Osifo came from Lagos State with 1,186 votes, Abia State with 1,007 votes, Oyo State with 929 votes, Benue State with 779 votes, and Nasarawa State where he secured 768 votes.

The outcome of the primaries further strengthens President Tinubu’s position within the ruling party as preparations gradually begin ahead of the 2027 presidential election in Nigeria.

Political observers believe the APC leadership may continue consultations and strategic engagements in the coming months as the party intensifies preparations for the national polls.
