Stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) across the South-West region have officially endorsed the presidential ambition of Mohammed Hayatu-Deen ahead of the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for Monday. The group described him as the most prepared candidate to reposition Nigeria and steer the nation away from its lingering economic and governance challenges.
The endorsement was contained in a statement released on Sunday by Babajide Dosunmu after extensive consultations with party stakeholders, youth groups, professionals, and political mobilisers across the South-West geopolitical zone.
According to Dosunmu, the decision to support Hayatu-Deen was based on the belief that Nigeria can no longer continue with ineffective leadership, political drama, or repeated governance failures that have slowed national development.
He explained that the South-West region has historically been associated with progressive politics, quality governance, intellectual capacity, and economic advancement. Following broad consultations within the party structure, stakeholders concluded that Mohammed Hayatu-Deen possesses the leadership qualities urgently needed to move the country forward during this critical period.
Dosunmu further stated that Hayatu-Deen’s experience in banking, economic administration, public policy, and institutional management places him in a strong position to tackle Nigeria’s growing economic difficulties, unemployment concerns, insecurity, and declining investor confidence.
He noted that millions of Nigerians are currently facing severe hardship, while many businesses continue to struggle under harsh economic conditions. He added that insecurity remains a major threat to national stability, making it necessary for the country to embrace a leader with discipline, competence, and a deep understanding of economic management.
The ADC South-West Professionals Forum leader also commended Hayatu-Deen’s conduct throughout the party’s primary process. He particularly referenced the aspirant’s public appeal for all contenders to commit themselves to the ADC Governance Principles and Code of Ethics, widely referred to as The Orange Book.
According to Dosunmu, in a political environment where many politicians seek power without accountability, Hayatu-Deen has distinguished himself through integrity, issue-based politics, and a commitment to responsible leadership. He stressed that character, accountability, and integrity remain essential qualities for effective governance.
The group also appealed to delegates participating in Monday’s presidential primaries to support Hayatu-Deen’s candidacy. They argued that the ADC now has a significant opportunity to present Nigerians with a credible and competent alternative ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Dosunmu concluded by saying that the decision before party delegates goes beyond individual ambitions and directly concerns the future of both the ADC and Nigeria. He maintained that Mohammed Hayatu-Deen offers the party a strong opportunity to inspire confidence among Nigerians while presenting a serious national alternative capable of governing effectively if elected.
