President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his heartfelt congratulations to all the victors of the Saturday, August 16 by-elections, which were held across 16 constituencies in 12 different states of Nigeria.

In his statement, the President lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for organizing smooth and largely violence-free elections, describing the exercise as a positive step in strengthening Nigeria’s democratic system.

According to the official results announced by INEC, the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged victorious in 12 constituencies, while the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) secured two seats. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won one seat, and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) also clinched one seat.

President Tinubu specifically congratulated the new APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, on what he described as a significant milestone and the first emphatic victory achieved under his leadership.

The President further praised APC governors and other stakeholders of the ruling party for their roles in ensuring the success of the by-elections.

“Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda has already displayed strong leadership qualities and proven what can be achieved when competent candidates are presented, combined with unity of purpose among party leaders,” Tinubu stated.

He went on to express gratitude to APC supporters and the Nigerian electorate at large, assuring them of his administration’s unwavering commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“To all APC faithful and the electorate, I sincerely thank you for the confidence reposed in our party. Let it be clear that Renewed Hope is not just a slogan. Our destination is a more secure, prosperous, and better Nigeria. By the grace of God, we shall get there together,” the President affirmed.

In his closing remarks, President Tinubu commended all political parties and candidates who participated in the elections. He urged them to embrace the principles of sportsmanship, fair competition, and magnanimity, noting that these values are the true foundation of a sustainable and vibrant democracy.
