In a shocking development from China’s entertainment industry, Zhang Yiyang, a renowned singer and actor, has reportedly been executed by firing squad following his conviction for the brutal murder of his underage girlfriend. Zhang has now made history as the first Chinese celebrity to be executed by a firing squad, according to a ruling made public in July 2025 by the Intermediate People’s Court of Xianyang, located in North Shaanxi Province. The tragic incident took place in 2022, when Zhang attacked his 16-year-old girlfriend using a sharp weapon. The brutal assault involved slashing her left carotid artery, jugular vein, trachea, and esophagus, causing massive blood loss that ultimately resulted in her death. Their relationship reportedly began in September 2021, but tensions escalated after the girl wanted to end the relationship following a disagreement. Unable to accept the breakup, Zhang resorted to fatal violence.
