The Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi, has issued a firm directive to all political appointees, urging them to place the welfare of grassroots communities at the center of their responsibilities. This directive aligns with his administration’s broader agenda of fostering unity, cooperation, and mutual assistance among citizens. According to an official statement released by Zainab S. Rabo, Senior Special Assistant on Media Affairs to the Governor, the message was delivered during a stakeholders’ meeting held on Sunday at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Dutse. During the engagement, Governor Namadi stressed that governance must revolve around the people, highlighting the importance of compassion, responsiveness, and dedication among public office holders. He called on appointees to remain approachable and proactive in addressing the needs of citizens at every level of society. The Governor reiterated that the foundation of his administration is rooted in collective support and shared responsibility. He encouraged all political office holders to strengthen their connection with the public, ensuring that the concerns of the people are not only heard but also addressed efficiently and effectively. Furthermore, he underscored that genuine leadership is demonstrated through service, empathy, and unwavering commitment to improving the welfare of the masses. According to him, holding public office is not merely a position of authority but a responsibility to uplift and support the community. This statement comes at a time when there has been a noticeable increase in complaints from members of the public regarding the attitude of some political appointees. Many citizens have expressed dissatisfaction over what they perceive as a lack of support and reluctance from certain office holders to assist those in need, despite the benefits they receive from their positions. Addressing these concerns directly, Governor Namadi noted that some appointees have claimed they lack the means to support others, even with the resources available to them. He described such claims as unacceptable within his administration. In a decisive tone, the Governor declared that any appointee who believes they are unable to contribute meaningfully to the welfare of the people should step down from their position. He made it clear that public service requires a willingness to give back and actively support the community. “Anyone who feels they do not have enough to assist the public should resign,” the Governor emphasized.
