Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has urged political stakeholders from the Jechira axis of Benue State to put aside political differences and rally their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the nation moves toward the 2027 general elections. The SGF made this appeal at his Maitama residence in Abuja, where he received a courtesy visit from a delegation of influential leaders from the Jechira bloc. The group comprised members representing different political affiliations, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party, and others. The delegation was led by Senator Dr. Jack Tilley-Gyado, accompanied by respected figures such as Elder Abaki Julius Korapera (Upper Jechira), Dr. Sarwuan Tarnongo (Lower Jechira), and Professor Dennis Ityavyar, who represented voices across the political spectrum. Leaders Commend Tinubu’s Choice of Akume as SGF Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Jechira leaders expressed their appreciation for President Tinubu’s appointment of Akume as SGF. They described the appointment as a recognition of Akume’s political stature and a reward for his long-standing dedication to governance. The leaders praised Tinubu’s decision, calling it “a well-deserved choice” that reflects inclusiveness and confidence in Akume’s leadership abilities. They further pledged unwavering loyalty to President Tinubu’s administration and committed themselves to mobilizing grassroots and political support for his re-election campaign in 2027. Push for Jechira’s Continued Political Relevance The Jechira delegation also highlighted Akume’s significant role in ensuring that the axis produced the current governor of Benue State. They called for the governorship seat to remain in Jechira beyond the present administration, emphasizing that other zones within the state had previously enjoyed two full terms. Additionally, they extended their appreciation to the Jemgbah leaders for consistently supporting Jechira’s political advancement over the years. Tilley-Gyado Acknowledges Tinubu’s Support for Benue In his remarks, Senator Tilley-Gyado commended President Tinubu for not only entrusting Akume with the office of SGF but also for appointing other prominent sons and daughters of Benue into key positions within his government. He acknowledged the administration’s ongoing infrastructural development projects in the state, noting that these initiatives have strengthened the people’s confidence in Tinubu’s leadership. He reiterated the bloc’s loyalty to Akume’s guidance and pledged that the Jechira people would continue to stand firmly behind the SGF’s political direction as the 2027 election approaches. Akume Reassures Leaders of Inclusive Governance Responding to the delegation, Senator Akume expressed deep gratitude for their solidarity and reassurances. He emphasized his commitment to inclusive and purposeful governance, stressing that his leadership would remain open, accommodating, and free from ill-feelings despite provocations. He encouraged unity among political stakeholders in Benue and reiterated the need to work collectively to ensure that President Tinubu’s administration succeeds in delivering development across the country.
Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, reaffirmed his strong backing for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, expressing full confidence in the president’s ongoing leadership and reforms. During the ground-breaking ceremony of an Agro-Livestock Industrial Zone spanning 184 hectares in Gombe State, Governor Yahaya applauded Tinubu’s administration for driving impactful policies and nationwide development initiatives. He emphasized that Nigeria’s livestock sector has undergone remarkable transformation since President Tinubu assumed office in 2023. According to the governor, Tinubu’s substantial investments in livestock infrastructure aim to enhance the economy, boost employment, and improve the general well-being of citizens. Yahaya disclosed that the Agro-Livestock Industrial Zone in Gombe received robust backing from the Federal Government under Tinubu’s leadership. He highlighted that ₦120 billion was approved for the project, with 50% of the funding already disbursed. “For everything President Tinubu has done, is doing, and is yet to do – I confidently assure him that Gombe people will follow him into battle, even blindfolded,” Yahaya declared. “By the grace of God, his success in the 2027 election is guaranteed,” he added. Governor Yahaya emphasized that Tinubu’s prioritization of the livestock industry—a key economic sector in Northern Nigeria—demonstrates his genuine concern for the welfare of the Northern population. “No Northern president in 47 years ever considered investing ₦120 billion to uplift the livestock value chain, even though it is predominantly a Northern business,” Yahaya remarked. He further praised President Tinubu’s bold vision for revitalizing agriculture, especially in Gombe and other rural communities. Yahaya assured citizens that despite the current hardships brought on by economic reforms, brighter days are ahead under Tinubu’s guidance.

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has appealed to Nigerians, especially the Northern region, to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and support his second term bid in 2027. While speaking during the 2025 Nzeh Mada Festival held in Akwanga Local Government Area, the governor emphasized the importance of upholding regional commitments and ensuring political continuity. Governor Sule reiterated that regardless of differing opinions about Tinubu’s leadership style, the former Lagos State governor deserves the chance to complete his constitutionally-allowed eight years in office. “We committed to zoning. After the North led for eight years, it’s only just that the South governs for the same period,” Governor Sule stated. As the Chairman of the North Central Governors Forum, Sule highlighted past endorsements Tinubu received from influential governors who believed in his ability to transform Nigeria, just as he transformed Lagos into a major commercial hub. “Despite the political tension then, we stood our ground and worked to elect Tinubu. Today, the same people who supported him now criticize him because they didn’t get their share,” he said. Sule reaffirmed his stance that leadership should not be assessed based solely on temporary setbacks, urging Nigerians to be patient as long-term reforms take root. “Whether President Tinubu is perceived as good or bad, we must support his continuity to complete eight years,” he added. He also warned against political instability and the dangers of switching narratives for personal gain. “We must stand by our earlier decisions and remain consistent. Leadership demands unity and patience,” the governor advised. Tinubu on Working Visit in France Currently, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is in France on a two-week working vacation. He is expected to return after the Easter celebrations, according to Premium Times Nigeria.
