In the case of this year’s Ramadan, it lasted for 30 days as the moon was discovered a day earlier. Consequently, some Muslim faithful observed Eid on Sunday, while others, including our community, observed it on Monday.” Following Religious Leadership Sheikh Awwal highlighted that both those who celebrated Eid based on the Sultan’s announcement and those who followed the Egba Muslim leadership had adhered to their religious authorities without violating Islamic principles. “The determination of the lunar month remains in the hands of Allah, beyond human control. Therefore, whether one concluded fasting on Sunday or Monday, both decisions were guided by Islamic leadership and are acceptable in the sight of God.” He stressed the importance of obeying Islamic scholars and clerics, as they possess deep knowledge of the faith.
