Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has addressed the growing public conversation surrounding the closure of the Renewed Hope Agenda office located along Ojike Street in Umuahia, the state capital. The governor clarified that the sealing of the building was not rooted in political rivalry, as circulated by some opposition voices, but was instead an enforcement operation guided strictly by legal directives. In a detailed explanation released through his Chief Press Secretary, Ukoha Ukoha, Governor Otti emphasized that the action was implemented by the Abia State Harmonised Task Force, a body responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory and judicial instructions across the state. According to him, the office in question was sealed as part of a larger statewide operation aimed at enforcing multiple court orders that had previously been ignored. Otti made it clear that no individual, group, or political association was targeted during the enforcement exercise. He stressed that the government only acted in accordance with standing legal mandates already issued by competent courts. He maintained that the opposition’s attempt to politicize the development was misleading and intended to distract the public from the real issue, which was the need to uphold law and order across Abia. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to fairness, neutrality, and respect for democratic values, adding that government agencies would continue to carry out their duties without favoritism or political influence. The governor urged residents to disregard claims suggesting that the sealing of the Renewed Hope Agenda office was meant to suppress any political movement or agenda.
