Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor has officially announced that Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu is facing a temporary spell on the sidelines due to an injury, LMSINT MEDIA reports. The towering forward suffered an ankle injury while participating in a pre-season friendly match, dealing a significant blow to the club’s preparation for the forthcoming season. Medical evaluations have confirmed that the 31-year-old Onuachu will be unavailable for selection for approximately one month as he recovers from the injury setback. The Super Eagles forward only recently sealed a permanent move to Trabzonspor from Southampton, an English Sky Bet Championship team, in a transfer completed last month. With his recovery timeline, Onuachu is set to miss several of Trabzonspor’s critical early matches in the 2025/2026 Turkish Super Lig campaign. These matches include clashes against Kocaelispor, Kasimpasa, Antalyaspor, and Samsunspor — all of which are crucial in setting the tone for the season. The Turkish Super Lig’s 2025/26 season is officially scheduled to begin on Friday, 9 August 2025, marking the start of a highly anticipated football season in Turkey.
