Renowned Nollywood actor, Stan Nze, has openly condemned the idea of endangering his life just to interpret a role in a film. According to him, such an act is not bravery but outright stupidity. In a recent interview with The Nation, the award-winning actor emphasized that professional stunt performers exist in the movie industry for such risky responsibilities, and it would be senseless for him to attempt dangerous actions in the name of proving his talent. Stan Nze explained: “Why should I risk my life by leaping from a dangerous height for a movie role? That is not my duty as an actor. These dangerous roles are specifically designed for stunt professionals. They are highly skilled and adequately compensated to carry out such scenes because they have the training and expertise to perform them safely.” The actor further stressed that putting his life on the line just to earn admiration as Africa’s best actor is an unnecessary gamble. He said that if anything tragic were to happen, people would only mourn briefly and move on with their lives, leaving his sacrifice meaningless. He added: “I am not foolish enough to jump from a dangerous height simply because I want to be celebrated as the best in the industry. If I die, the audience will observe one minute of silence and continue with their lives. That is nothing but stupidity. I will only play roles that are meant for me while leaving stunt professionals to handle theirs. Everyone has their own job in filmmaking.” Stan Nze’s perspective highlights the importance of respecting professional boundaries within Nollywood, stressing that while actors bring life to characters, stunt performers play a crucial role in ensuring safety and authenticity in dangerous scenes.
