It was gathered that the suspect had consistently slept with unsuspecting women in the community and had also allegedly infected his wife. LMSINT MEDIA reports that trouble started for Mr David after his wife noticed their daughter became sickly and ematiated. She reportedly took the young child for medical examination where her HIV status was confirmed. Following interrogation, the child revealed that the father had been defiling her for sometime now. However, the child’s declined comments when our correspondent sought to speak with her on the matter. There were indications that members of her husband’s family were pressuring her to recant her claims, withdraw the matter from the police and effect the husband’s release from custody. When contacted for comments, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe confirmed the reports in a text message and phone chat with our correspondent in Warri. In the text message, he said,”I don’t know about AIDs but yes he is in custody.” Also in a telephone chat he said,”Yes! The man is in custody.” Reacting to the matter, a human rights activist, Israel Joe, urged the Delta State Police Command to ensure the Police isolate the suspect from society to prevent him from further spreading the disease to innocent persons. He tasked the Police to ensure that justice is done in the matter in the interest of fairness and truth. Numbers 13-14 recounts the story of the twelve spies sent by Moses to scout the land of Canaan, the Promised Land. They spent forty days exploring the land and brought back evidence of its abundance, including a large cluster of grapes. However, while Caleb and Joshua encouraged the Israelites to trust God and take possession of the land, the other ten spies described the land as dangerous and inhabited by giants. The Israelites, overcome by fear and doubt, rebelled against Moses and Aaron, longing to return to Egypt. God’s anger burned against their unbelief, and as a result, that generation, except Caleb and Joshua, didn’t enter the Promised Land. Despite Caleb and Joshua’s attempts to reassure them of God’s power, the people refused to believe. Here’s what I want you to notice concerning what the Lord said about the report of these other 10 spies: “And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel…” (Numbers 13:32). It wasn’t Joshua or Moses who labelled their report as “evil”—it was the Lord Himself, because it contradicted His Word. What was the evil report? God had declared that the Israelites would conquer the giants and take possession of the land flowing with milk and honey. But the ten spies said, “Even if it’s true that the land flows with milk and honey, we can’t take it.” They disregarded God’s assurance of victory and accused Moses of leading them into trouble. In Numbers 13:32-33, they said, “…The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature. And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.” Learn from this. No evil report should come from you. Be like Joshua and Caleb. Our opening verse says we have the same spirit of faith; we believe and therefore speak in agreement with God’s Word. What has the Word said about your health or prosperity? What has God said about your life and future? Affirm the same things in agreement with Him. Speak faith-filled words only, regardless of what your senses perceive. Hold fast to your confessions of faith, knowing that God’s Word is true and always prevails. Breakdown of Docket Fees Some reports suggested that certain departments within UNILAG demanded up to N10,000 for examination dockets. However, findings by Vanguard confirm that students are only required to pay between N500 and N2,500, depending on their faculty or department. Additionally, the fees collected at the departmental level for the ongoing semester are not close to N10,000, as some had claimed. Student Reactions to the Allegations Several students have dismissed the claims, stating that the school management has not imposed such exorbitant fees. According to Kingsley Eze, a student of the Faculty of Arts: “No, students are not being charged N10,000 for dockets. I have heard that some departments require as much as N2,500, but in my department, we only paid N500 for the docket, and even that is optional.” When asked whether students who refuse to pay these fees would be denied entry into the examination hall, Eze responded: “Not at all.” Understanding the Semester Dues A 300-level student from the Faculty of Management Sciences, who chose to remain anonymous, provided insights into the dues students are expected to pay. Ondo Youths Set Police Station Ablaze Over Alleged Death in Custody Tension erupted in Ifon, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, as a group of irate youths set a police station ablaze. The incident occurred following the alleged death of a young man, whom they claim was tortured in police custody. According to local sources, the victim was arrested and allegedly subjected to severe torture, which resulted in his demise. Outraged by the situation, his peers stormed the police station, forcefully dispersed officers, and set the premises on fire in protest. However, the Ondo State Police Command has refuted claims that the young man died in their custody. According to their statement, he passed away while receiving medical treatment at a hospital. Police Commissioner Condemns Attack, Orders Investigation During an on-site assessment of the damage, Ondo State Police Commissioner Wilfred Afolabi strongly condemned the arson and lawlessness. He ordered a full-scale investigation to determine the actual circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure justice is served. Speaking on the matter, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Funmi Odunlami, provided further insights. She explained that the incident originated from a dispute between two families on Ogbomo Street, Ifon, which escalated into a violent confrontation on February 15, 2025. “Officers from the Ifon Division, led by an Inspector, intervened and made arrests while some individuals fled,” Odunlami stated. She further revealed that one of the involved youths, Tobi Bobade, was later brought to the station by a man identified as Mr. Losilosi. “He appeared weak and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but he was later pronounced dead while receiving treatment,” she explained. Following his passing, his remains were deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, for an autopsy. Mob Retaliates, Burns Police Station Shortly after news of Bobade’s death spread, a mob led by his father reportedly attacked the Ifon Police Station. In the violent outburst, the administrative office, the Divisional Police Officer’s (DPO) office, the station store, and two exhibit vehicles were set ablaze. Odunlami confirmed that, fortunately, no lives were lost as security personnel quickly reinforced their presence to control the chaos. Authorities Call for Calm and Justice During his visit, the Police Commissioner met with the Local Government Chairman, community leaders, and key stakeholders. While offering condolences to the deceased’s family on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, he denounced the violent actions of the mob. “Lawlessness of this nature will not be tolerated,” Afolabi emphasized. “Those responsible for this criminal act will face legal consequences.” He urged residents to remain peaceful and assured them that a thorough investigation is ongoing.
