Omoyele Sowore, the 2023 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has strongly criticized lawmakers from the Labour Party (LP) for defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC). In his recent remarks, Sowore condemned the alignment of LP lawmakers in both the Senate and House of Representatives with the ruling APC, asserting that their actions prove they were never truly committed to the Labour Party’s ideology. According to LMSINT MEDIA, several Labour Party members have switched allegiance either to the APC or the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This wave of defection, Sowore insists, exposes the insincerity of those lawmakers. Among those who have defected are: Speaking on Channels Television, Sowore remarked: “Look at all the Labour Party people in the National Assembly — they’re not decamping back to where they came from. They’re decamping to the APC. That’s the point; these guys are not real. They weren’t real in 2023, and they won’t be in 2027.” The defection list also includes: Sowore reiterated his stance that these defectors were not genuine representatives of the people under the Labour Party and accused them of opportunism by aligning with the dominant ruling party.
