Pastor Chris Oyakhilome DSc DSc DD Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). Faith is the essence, the title deed of things hoped for. Hope is usually in the future; it is something you look forward to, something you desire that’s not yet realized. It’s a picture of the future or an image of a desired outcome, accomplishment, possession, or fulfilment. So, hope is important as it precedes faith. Faith, on the other hand, is the essence of hope. Hope is foundational for faith to operate. Without hope, faith has no substance, no life. The Bible tells us that these three abide: faith, hope, and love (1 Corinthians 13:13). While it emphasizes that love is the greatest, it also shows the indispensable nature of all three. These elements—faith, hope, and love—are unique to us as part of our God-given nature. Hope is critical because it sustains us, keeping us connected to the future. It is the picture, the image that faith gives substance to. When you can see it in hope, faith makes it real. The relationship between faith and hope is beautifully illustrated through the concept of wave-particle duality in quantum physics. Experiments in quantum mechanics reveal that subatomic particles, when unobserved, exist as waves. However, when observed, the wave collapses into a particle, forming matter. This phenomenon parallels the operation of faith and hope. Hope is the potential energy—the wave, the possibility. When you focus on it, when you observe it through faith, it collapses into matter. It becomes real. The Bible already explained this reality. It shows us that hope must precede faith. Hope provides the picture, and faith transforms that potential into a tangible reality. Without hope, faith has nothing to act upon. When you have hope, you possess the possibility of what can be realized and faith activates it, turning that which was hitherto intangible into substance. PRAYERDear Father, thank you for the three creative elements: faith, hope, and love. I set my heart on the vision of your Word, stirring hope in my heart for a greater and brighter future; my faith is alive and active; it brings every possibility to reality. My faith is active, producing results and materializing every promise in my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. I am excellent and full of glory; my path is as the shining light that shines brighter and brighter unto the perfect day! I’m complete in Christ! I’m sufficient in His sufficiency; there’s no shortage in my life. I don’t lack or want for anything: ideas, inspiration, wealth, prosperity, and all the goodness of God are in my spirit, and I bring them forth from the fullness in my spirit. I am an heir of the whole world, my prosperity is unlimited; all things are mine! Pastor Chris Oyakhilome DSc DSc DD _I and my Father are one (John 10:30). In John 10:32-38 we read about the Lord Jesus and the scepticism of the Jewish leaders as they accused Him of blasphemy, seeking an opportunity to arrest Him. Verse 39 says, “Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand” (John 10:39). Now, notice the latter portion that says “he escaped out of their hand.” Some have said He escaped out of fear; that’s not true, because He didn’t have it in Him to fear. Remember, He faced death and refused to avoid it even when He had the chance. He escaped on this occasion because it wasn’t the appointed time for His sacrifice. If He had allowed them to harm Him, the Father would have intervened, and they would have been destroyed. Jesus knew this. He said in Matthew 26:53, “Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?” This was the Son of God, fully aware of His authority and the power of angels at His command. Consider Elisha and his servant when they were surrounded by an army. The servant was afraid, but Elisha told him, “…Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.” And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha” (2 Kings 6:16-17). If that happened with Elisha, then think about the Lord Jesus. He knew He had myriads of angels with Him. His actions were purposeful, demonstrating that He was always in control. Even under pressure, He maintained His focus on fulfilling the will of the Father, showing us the perfect example of courage and confidence in God’s plan. This same Jesus lives in us today by His Spirit, and His boldness is ours. Like Him, you must trust the Father completely, walking in the assurance of His love, power, and perfect purpose for your life. Psalm 118:6 says, “The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?” Furthermore, the Apostle Paul in 2 Timothy 1:7 reinforces this truth: “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Hallelujah! So be bold in affirming who you are in Christ and your oneness with Him. That was what got the Jews mad; their religious minds couldn’t accept or relate with the audacity and conviction with which Jesus spoke of His oneness with the Father. And we’re just like Him. CONFESSIONI walk in the boldness and courage of Christ; fear has no place in me. I’m bold, courageous, daring and audacious in affirming my oneness with the Lord. I live boldly in Him, full of faith and confidence in His divine protection, guidance and plan for my life. And I thank the Lord for the victory I have in Christ Jesus. Amen. Pastor Chris Oyakhilome DSc DSc DD …but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God (Romans 6:13). Romans 6:10-11 is the reality of your life in Christ. You’re dead to sin and alive unto God. You’re not under the dominion of sin or death. The old nature that was a slave to sin is dead—crucified with Christ—and now you live in the newness of life. You’re alive to righteousness, glory, and the Lordship of Jesus. It helps us understand what the Bible says in Romans 6:12, “Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.” This means you have authority over your body, over your thoughts, over everything that pertains to you. You’re no longer subject to failure, decay, or destruction. You’ve come out of spiritual death into the realm of life—God’s life. When you touch things, they don’t deteriorate; they improve. Why? Because the righteousness of God fixes things; it carries life, success and glory; and you’re the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Think about it: the whole creation is in bondage because of corruption. Everything in the world has been subjected to decay and destruction: “For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now” (Romans 8:22). But what is the creation waiting for? The preceding verse 19 tells us; it says, “For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.” You’re the one to set creation free from the bondage of corruption. Everything connected to you—Your clothes, your cars, your home—is meant to reflect and be impacted by the life of God, because as read in our theme scripture, you’re an instrument of righteousness. This means wherever you go, things get better. Whoever encounters you is improved, because the righteousness of God functions through you. You’re a carrier of life, restoration, and glory. You don’t just exist; you reign, you fix and renew things. Let this be your consciousness: you’re the manifestation of Christ’s righteousness. You function in His divine order and His divine power, bringing His glory everywhere. CONFESSIONI’m an instrument of righteousness; I carry the life of God. His glory and wisdom are expressed in and through me. Everything associated with me reflects the righteousness of God. I bring deliverance, restoration, and life to creation. Pastor Chris Oyakhilome DSc DSc DD Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin (Romans 6:6). The Lord Jesus didn’t come to give us a religion; He came to give us life—the God-life! He gave up everything, even His own life, to make us sons of God. When you truly understand the magnitude of His sacrifice, it’ll transform your outlook on life. You’d live victoriously every day, knowing that His death, burial and resurrection brought us life everlasting—free from sin, sickness, poverty and death. The vicarious sacrifice of Jesus Christ wasn’t symbolic; it was a reality, and so is the freedom it brought to us. His resurrection secured our victory over death and every form of oppression. The Bible says, “Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him” (Romans 6:9). And guess what? Death has no dominion over you either because you’re in Him. Through His death, burial, and resurrection, Jesus gave you His very nature. You’re now alive unto God! You’re not just forgiven; you’re recreated, made the righteousness of God in Christ. This is why you can boldly declare, “I’ll never be sick in my life! I’ll never be broke in my life!” These aren’t empty confessions; they’re realities of the life we’ve received in Christ. So, reign in life through Christ as the Bible says: “For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:17). Stop “trying” to make it; you’ve already made it in Christ! The old nature is dead, and the new you is alive with the life of God. The Apostle Paul tells us, “Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:11). Live with this consciousness. You’re not a sinner; you’re the righteousness of God in Christ. You’re not the defeated trying to get victory; you’re the victor, reigning in life through Christ Jesus. Hallelujah! The kind of blessings coming to me now, cannot be humanly explained. My progress is unstoppable because I cannot be limited by sickness, disease, or the negativities of the ordinary life. As Jesus is above all things, so am I. The Holy Spirit has beautified my life. He brings colour into my life. I live a wonderful, colourful, beautiful, and productive life. I am vitalized, refreshed, renewed, and restored by the Holy Spirit daily. I manifest God’s glory, virtue, excellence, and greatness to my world, bringing glory to the Name of the Lord continually. My body and all my members and faculties are a living sacrifice, holy, devoted, consecrated and well-pleasing to God, which is my service and spiritual worship. Pastor Chris Oyakhilome DSc DSc DD Here’s my concern: that you care for God’s flock with all the diligence of a shepherd… (1 Peter 5:2 MSG). In the previous study, we reviewed the importance of complete evangelism. When you lead someone to Christ, you should keep track of their journey in Christ. Two years later, for example, you should still remember them and keep praying for them. Consider keeping a diary of the people you lead to Christ, and you’ll be amazed at how long that list will become over time. As you lead people to Christ, encourage them to do the same. Tell them, “When you lead someone to Christ, let me know. You can send me their names and addresses. I’ll be praying for them.” As your list grows, take time to bow your knees before the Father and pray for everyone on your list. The Spirit, through the Apostle Paul, said in Galatians 4:19, “My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you.” Pray like this for those whose names are on your list. Be strategic with your intercession for them, that they be established in the faith, doing the will of the Father, active in the work of the ministry, and bringing glory to God always. Pray also for other new converts whom the Lord has added to the church, that they be established in the Word, firmly rooted and grounded in the faith, and that the Lord is perfecting His work in their lives for His glory. Pray for them to be more and more passionate, committed and fearless labourers of the end-time harvest, and that through them, more souls receive the Gospel gladly and are converted to the Kingdom. In John 17:12, Jesus said, “…those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost….” This should always be your testimony concerning all those you lead to Christ or those whom the Lord adds to your local assembly through your evangelical efforts. Remember that evangelism has to be a conscious effort. It must be a sincere and personal ministry; it’s not a one-time event. It is a continuous, deliberate effort to bring others into God’s Kingdom and follow them up until they’re nurtured and grounded in the Faith. PRAYERDear Father, thank you for the opportunity to partner with you in the ministry of reconciliation. I take personal responsibility for those I lead to Christ. I remain fervent in prayer for their growth and dedication to spiritual things. Thank you for the joy and fulfilment of seeing lives transformed for your glory, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. Pastor Chris Oyakhilome DSc DSc DD As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious (1 Peter 2:2-3). When you lead people to Christ to receive salvation, at that moment, they’re still spiritual babies that must begin to learn the Word of God. The Word of God is the food for the human spirit; it’s the only material that guarantees spiritual growth. Therefore, new converts must be taught the Word and given the opportunity to learn the Word of God. This is where going to church plays a key role. When you win souls, immediately introduce them to the local church where they can participate in the things of God and be trained and well-nurtured spiritually. When you fail to bring them into the church, you’re like a woman who gives birth to a baby, leaves the baby at the hospital’s maternity ward and goes home. That’s absurd. It’s important to take those you’ve led to Christ to your church. Don’t tell them to go to any nice church. That’s like having a child and saying, “This child can go to any mother.” Instead, guide them to the church where you are. If the person believed your message about Jesus, they ought to know you came from somewhere. When you bring them to your church, you can guarantee their spiritual growth because you know what they’re going to hear. Connect them with someone from your church—a leader or even the pastor. Let them know you’re excited about their salvation and that others will be excited about it too. Make your evangelism complete. This verse, given by the Spirit through the apostle Paul, is one of the simplest, yet most profound instructions in the Word of God. He says, “In everything give thanks.” This means, no matter what happens, stay in gratitude; maintain a grateful heart. Thanksgiving is God’s will for us in Christ Jesus. If you’ve ever said, “Lord, I want to do your will,” here’s a straightforward way to do just that: give thanks in everything. It sounds simple, but how well have you practised it? Thanksgiving is how you position yourself to see the manifestation of God’s power at work in your behalf. Depression, frustration and confusion have no place in the life of one who consistently gives thanks. When you understand the principle of thanksgiving, you’ll never allow circumstances to dictate your joy. Nothing can frustrate you when you’re always full of gratitude to the Lord. If you lose money, give thanks. If you lose your job, give thanks. If your car is stolen, give thanks. Before taking any step, give thanks. Why? Because this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus! Even if a contract you were awarded suddenly got revoked, give thanks because your source is not the contract or any human system. Your source is the Lord. When one door closes, it only means a bigger one is about to open. Thanksgiving keeps your focus on God’s sovereignty and provision, not on the challenges before you. So even if your business partners or associates tell you they can no longer fulfil their part of an agreement, respond with gratitude, knowing God has something greater in store for you. Everyone who blesses you is in turn blessed by God. This means that when someone gives to you or does good for you, they position themselves for a blessing from God. Therefore, remain in thanksgiving and trust God to keep you in a state of perpetual abundance. No matter what you face, stay in gratitude, knowing that God’s will for you is perfect and leads to glorious outcomes. According to the viral report, the pastor, who was returning from a vigil on March 22, 2025, was attacked by criminals after being dropped off under the bridge. The assailants reportedly inflicted severe machete wounds, leaving him unattended for hours before he was taken to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The report also mentioned similar attacks, including one involving a young woman traveling from Lagos who sustained multiple injuries. Police Response and Reinforced Security Measures Reacting to the claims, Ogun State Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola clarified that no such case had been formally reported at any police station. However, in a proactive move, Commissioner of Police Lanre Ogunlowo led security reinforcements at the interchange. Pastor Chris Oyakhilome DSc DSc DD Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers (Ephesians 4:29). What kind of words come out of your mouth? Are they words of love and grace, or words that pierce like a sword? The Bible says in Proverbs 12:18, “There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.” The latter is your life; your words are to bring healing to the bruised and mend the broken-hearted. Don’t utter words that destabilize others and rob them of their self-esteem. Support, uplift, bless and minister grace to others with your words. Your mouth is a tool given to you by God for edification, not for vengeful, hateful, or distasteful words that engender strife or contention. Take a cue from Jesus; He always spoke uplifting, building, comforting, inspiring and soul-stirring words. Those who heard Him speak in Bible days couldn’t get enough of His words. Even the common people, according to the Bible, heard Him gladly (Mark 12:37). His words brought them relief, hope, faith and love. The Bible says in Ephesians 3:17-19, “That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.” To be filled with God is to be filled with love because God is love. God’s love is shed abroad in your heart by the Holy Spirit but expressed through your words and actions. Therefore, be known for gracious and loving words. Everyone, including children, should be comfortable around you because they know that every word from you will build them up and improve their self-esteem. Your life should be a blessing to everyone. Make up your mind to be a source of peace and joy, reflecting Christ in everything you do. That doesn’t mean everyone will be happy with you. Even Jesus wasn’t accepted by everyone. Some opposed Him despite His goodness. But don’t let that change your focus. Let your actions and words minister grace, edify others, and demonstrate the love of Christ. PRAYERDear Father, I thank you for filling my heart with your love and grace. I speak words that edify, inspire and build others. My life reflects your goodness and love. I’m a blessing to everyone around me, and my actions reflect the life of Christ in me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. I live the transcendent life in Christ far above sickness, disease, infirmity, and death. I am not ordinary, because I am born of God. Thus, I always function with supernatural strength and abilities! My mind is stayed on the Lord and my trust is in my heavenly Father, who preserves me from all evil. I will never walk in confusion because the Spirit of God is guiding me in the path of life and leading me in the way of supernatural success and permanent prosperity. I make my way prosperous and consistently experience good success as I meditate on the Word and speak it forth with boldness. Pastor Chris Oyakhilome DSc DSc DD But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed (James 1:22-25). Notice the very instructive thought in the beginning and latter part of our theme scripture. It says, be a doer of the Word, for it is the doer that gets blessed. That means practise the Word. You may preach and teach the Word, but be sure to be a doer of the Word that you preach and teach. Acting or practising the Word could be likened to a baby learning to walk. You may not perfect it overnight, but as you keep at it, it gets better. So don’t be discouraged if it seems like it didn’t work the first time. What you need to do is to learn some more, hear the Word more, build your faith more, and try again. Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Faith is a process. If you don’t practise it, you’ll never see growth. It’s like learning to use a tool; faith requires practice; it needs to be used regularly to be effective. For example, in your health, the first thing is to know what the Word says. The Bible says, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth” (3 John 1:2). Therefore, it’s clear: God’s plan for you is divine health! There should be no cancer, diabetes, or any such thing in your body. Grasp this truth and live by it, and if you experience any symptoms of sickness in your body, don’t panic. Use the Word! Keep declaring, “I have the life of God in me. I walk in divine health. No sickness, disease or infirmities can thrive in my body.” Hallelujah! Keep yourself in health with God’s Word; it’s medicine for your body (Proverbs 4:20-22). Do the same in your finances; keep practising the Word and exercising your faith. You may say, “But the other day, I declared in the Name of Jesus that I’m getting one million dollars and it didn’t happen.” Maybe you’re not yet at the level where your faith can work for one million dollars; howbeit, don’t give up. As long as you refuse to cower or stagger through unbelief, your faith will certainly prevail. Praise God! PRAYERDear Father, thank you for giving me your Word to live by. As I put my faith to work, it grows and prevails, causing me to live victoriously always, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. The same Spirit that raised up Jesus from the dead lives in me; it’s impossible for me to be brought down by sickness. No matter what the devil throws at me, I stand strong in faith and use the all-powerful Name of Jesus to neutralize his fiery darts. I keep my body healthy with my faith-filled confessions.
