The governor of Kano, Abba Yusuf, has stated that his administration will take all necessary steps to repatriate minors who are thought to be from the state. On Friday, a number of suspects—including children—were charged with involvement in the #EndBadGovernance demonstrations. People from Abuja, Kaduna, Gombe, Jos, Katsina, and Kano were reportedly among those detained. They are accused of treasonous felony, arson, and terrorism. At a federal high court in Abuja, where the demonstrators were arraigned, four youngsters passed out and were hurried away. Each of the 72 suspects was later given N10 million bail by the court. Many Nigerians, including leading politicians and civil society, have condemned the arraignment of minors. Rimazonte Ezekiel, the federal government prosecutor, claimed that all the arraigned persons were adults andthat “married men make up the majority of them.” However, the youngest individual arraigned is 13 years old, according to Nigeria Police Force (NPF) spokeswoman Muyiwa Adejobi. On his X page, the Kano governor responded to the incident by stating that Haruna Dederi, the Kano attorney general and commissioner of justice, has been instructed to act immediately. “The appearance of teenagers in court today in Abuja, some of whom are thought to be from Kano, has caught my attention,” Yusuf stated.
