As discussed in our previous study, when you received the Holy Spirit, you didn’t get a portion of Him; you received the fullness of the Spirit. God doesn’t give the Holy Spirit by measure in the New Testament. You’ve received the same Spirit that raised the Lord Jesus from the dead and empowered Him to work miracles, heal the sick, cast out devils, and raise the dead. Now that you’re born again, don’t wait for another outpouring or a higher dimension of the Spirit; you already have all of Him living in you. What you need is the bold expression of His person and presence within you. The more conscious you are of the Spirit’s indwelling, the more He manifests Himself to you and through you. The Holy Spirit isn’t a feeling, a wind, or a power; He’s the Father that dwells in you, just as the Lord Jesus said in John 14:10, “…the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.” When He said this, He was referring to the Holy Spirit. Therefore, refuse to think you’re limited, disadvantaged or hamstrung. You’re full of divine energy, wisdom and ability. You’re more than a conqueror. You can do all things. You’ve overcome Satan, the world, every adversary and adversity, because the greater One lives in you: “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4). When you speak, it’s God speaking through you. When you lay hands on the sick, it’s the Holy Spirit ministering through you. You’re His living temple, His tabernacle of witness, the ark of His presence. You carry His glory, righteousness, grace and love everywhere you go. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced significant achievements in its efforts to combat drug trafficking and abuse in Kogi State. Between January and December 2024, the agency arrested 284 suspects and seized over 5,232,575 kilograms of illicit drugs. It also confiscated counterfeit currency worth $2 million and ₦20.4 million in various denominations. Speaking at a press briefing in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, the NDLEA State Commander, Mustapha Yahuza, highlighted the agency’s successes. Among these was the destruction of 10 hectares of marijuana plantations within the state. “These accomplishments are significant milestones in our fight against drug abuse and trafficking in the region,” Yahuza said. He attributed the progress to the commitment and professionalism of the agency’s personnel despite the challenges they face. The NDLEA’s drug seizures included Cannabis Sativa, Tramadol, Methamphetamine, Diazepam, Rohypnol, Exol-5, Cocaine, Codeine, Heroin, Pethidine Injection, Ergometrine Injection, and Nitrous Oxide. So far, 91 individuals have been convicted for drug-related crimes, with several cases still ongoing at the Federal High Court in Lokoja. In addition to enforcement, the NDLEA has actively engaged in drug abuse prevention and advocacy. Yahuza revealed that the agency sensitized 51 schools and organizations on the dangers of drug abuse in 2024. Furthermore, 195 individuals were counseled as part of its drug demand reduction initiatives. The commander issued a stern warning against drug consumption and trafficking, emphasizing the devastating effects these practices have on individuals, families, and society at large. He reiterated that the seized drugs and other exhibits had been handed over to relevant authorities for further investigation and prosecution. A tragic case of alleged police brutality has surfaced in Kwara State, as a 35-year-old man, Tunji Jimoh, reportedly lost his life under suspicious circumstances while in police detention in Ilorin. According to reliable sources, Tunji, a resident of the Erubu/Asunnara community, was arrested on Friday over a debt of ₦220,000 owed to a friend, whose brother is a police officer. Following his arrest, he was taken to the Special Investigation Bureau (SIB) at the Kwara State Police Command. Family members revealed that Tunji was denied bail and left in custody late on Friday. By Saturday morning, they were informed of his sudden death. A source alleges that Tunji may have been tortured in detention as part of a deal involving the creditor and some officers. Confirming the incident, the police spokesperson, DSP Ejire-Adeyemi Toun, stated in a press release on Sunday:“The state police command is aware of an unfortunate incident that led to the tragic death of one Mr. Jimoh Abdulquadri, which occurred on December 20, 2024. The deceased was invited on an alleged case of obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of ₦220,000. Discreet investigations have commenced, and updates will be shared as the case progresses. No stone will be left unturned.” The circumstances surrounding Tunji’s death have raised concerns about possible police misconduct. Human rights advocates are calling for transparency and accountability in the ongoing investigation to ensure justice is served. Multiple Tragedies Across Nigeria On Saturday in Okija, Anambra State, a Christmas palliative distribution turned tragic as 22 people lost their lives and several others sustained injuries during an early morning stampede. That same day, in Abuja, 10 individuals died during an annual Christmas food-sharing event at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Maitama. Earlier in the week, on Wednesday, a stampede at the Islamic High School, Basorun, Ibadan, Oyo State, claimed the lives of several children. Many others were rushed to the University College Hospital (UCH) for medical treatment after a holiday funfair spiraled into chaos. Vice President Shettima’s Condolence Message Vice President Shettima expressed profound grief over these tragic events. In a statement released by his spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, the Vice President extended his prayers and condolences to the families of the deceased and those receiving medical care. “I am extremely saddened by these tragic incidents that have claimed innocent lives. My prayers and thoughts are with the grieving families, especially those who lost children. These losses are a blow not just to the affected families but to the nation as a whole,” Shettima stated. He stressed the need for better organization and planning to prevent future stampedes, especially during large gatherings. Government’s Commitment to Support Victims The Vice President assured affected families that the federal government is committed to providing the necessary assistance during this challenging time. “We have directed relevant agencies to deliver immediate support to the families of the victims. For those receiving medical treatment, their recovery remains a top priority. We stand ready to support all bereaved families and ensure they receive the help they need,” Shettima concluded. These tragic incidents serve as a wake-up call for better crowd management and planning during public events, particularly in situations involving food distribution to the less privileged.
