Aminu Hassan, a 25-year-old from Dundubus, Daja LGA, has been taken into custody by Katsina State police officers on suspicion of providing financial support to armed bandits in Danmusa LGA and the adjacent areas. On November 19, 2024, the suspect was apprehended while on a regular patrol along the Yantumaki and Kankara highway, hiding two sets of military uniforms in a black polythene bag. In a statement released on Tuesday, Katsina Police Command spokesperson ASP Abubakar Sadiq revealed the arrest. He further disclosed that three other suspects—Lawal M. Ahmad (29), Isma’il Dalhatu (24), and Shafi’u Adamu (28), were apprehended as a result of further investigations. 14 sets of military clothes and one police uniform, according to ASP Sadiq, Authorities retrieved items that were purportedly meant to be delivered to the armed bandits for their illegal activities. He stated that “the suspects have admitted to their involvement in this criminal activity.” In a different occurrence, seven people were detained by the Katsina State Police Command on suspicion of raping four children between the ages of 13 and 14. After a report was filed at the Kaita Divisional Police Headquarters, the suspects—all of whom were Kaita LGA residents—were taken into custody on November 25, 2024. The suspects enticed the youngsters to one of the suspects’ homes, where they sexually assaulted them, according to ASP Sadiq. He mentioned that the detained suspects have admitted to the offences and would face charges in court after the inquiry is over. CP Musa Aliyu, the Katsina State Police Commissioner praised the Command’s personnel for their commitment and expertise in capturing these criminals. In order to help security authorities fight crime in the state, he asked the people to keep contributing useful information. The Kano State Police Command has apprehended three individuals in connection with the possession of counterfeit currencies valued at an astounding N129 billion. The arrest was confirmed by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, during a press briefing on Tuesday. The breakdown of the seized fake currencies includes $3,366,000 (US Dollars), CFA51,970,000, and N1,443,000 (Naira), alongside other currencies stolen from a foreign exchange dealer. According to SP Kiyawa, the suspects are currently in police custody, cooperating in an ongoing investigation aimed at identifying the counterfeit currency producers. In addition to the fake money, police operatives recovered six live ammunition, three tricycles, eight motorcycles, and 175 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp. Further items recovered include 250 pieces of diazepam tablets, 278 sheep, and seven cattle. SP Kiyawa highlighted the Command’s proactive approach to combating crime, noting significant progress in addressing issues such as kidnapping, armed robbery, and drug trafficking. “These efforts not only lead to the arrest of offenders but also serve as a deterrent to others contemplating criminal acts,” he remarked.
