The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has revealed that a tragic explosion occurred at Tsangagyar Sani Uthman Islamiyya School in Kuchibuyi Village, Bwari Area Council, on January 6, 2025. According to the police, three men from Katsina visited the school’s owner, Mallam Adamu Ashimu, before the incident took place. Bomb Explosion Details Preliminary investigations indicate that the visitors brought an improvised explosive device (IED) to the premises. While tampering with the device on the school veranda, it accidentally detonated, resulting in the deaths of two of the men. The third visitor and a female trader nearby sustained severe injuries and are currently receiving medical care under police supervision. The FCT Bomb Squad confirmed the device as an IED after recovering its remnants from the explosion site. School Owner Detained for Questioning The spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, stated that the school’s owner, Mallam Adamu Ashimu, has been taken into custody for further questioning as investigations continue. She explained that the incident was reported through a distress call by the Sarki of Kuchibuyi. In response, a team comprising the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) squad and the Area Commander of Kubwa were dispatched to the scene, promptly securing the area and initiating rescue operations. Police Urge Public Vigilance Following the tragic event, FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, has called on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or objects.
