In a tragic incident, gunmen have reportedly killed three children of a native doctor in Nise community, Awka South Local Government Area, Anambra State. The harrowing event occurred on Saturday night when the assailants scaled the fence to access the residence. Reports reveal that the attackers placed the lifeless bodies of the victims inside a parked Mercedes Benz within the compound before making their escape. Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed to journalists on Monday that a manhunt for the perpetrators was underway. He stated, “The attackers invaded the premises, murdered the children, and left their remains in a parked Mercedes Benz within the compound. Though the event took place on Saturday, we received the report late on Sunday. Investigations are ongoing to determine if the father’s negligence played a role or the motive of the culprits.” An anonymous source revealed that the children, aged between six and two years old, were found with their mouths tied. The source further claimed that the native doctor had a habit of locking his wife and children inside the house while he was away. It was also alleged that the native doctor had unresolved disputes with certain individuals, though it remains unclear if these conflicts contributed to the tragic deaths of his children. In a shocking incident in Ifite-Awka, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, unidentified gunmen unleashed terror on Wednesday evening, leaving four people dead and one abducted. The attack created panic throughout the community, forcing residents to flee while traders hastily shut their shops. Eyewitnesses recounted that the gunmen targeted popular spots such as Book Foundation Junction, Ukwu Aki Bus Stop, “B” Bus Stop, Commissioners’ Quarters, and the Bamboo area of the city. During the rampage, the manager of a renowned hotel in Awka was abducted. His whereabouts remain unknown at the time of this report. A local trader who spoke anonymously described the ordeal: “Around 7 pm, the gunshots started suddenly. Three people were killed at Book Foundation Junction, and another at Ukwu Aki Bus Stop. The attackers also stormed a hotel at Commissioners’ Quarters, kidnapping the manager. We’ve heard that the kidnappers initially demanded ₦20 million but later reduced it to ₦12 million as ransom.” The violence caused widespread fear, with businesses remaining closed even the following day. Another resident, identified as Chibuike, added: “They killed three at Ifite last night and another at ‘B’ Bus Stop. This morning, someone was also shot near the Ukwu Aki area. December is becoming frighteningly bloody.” Despite the gravity of the situation, hotel staff declined to provide further comments. Meanwhile, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that the police were unaware of the incident but urged relatives of victims to contact law enforcement.
