A tragic road accident has claimed the lives of nine passengers and left five others injured following a collision involving a speeding trailer and a commercial bus in Gombe State. The fatal incident occurred along the Kaltungo–Cham Road, precisely within the Kaluwa community of Kaltungo Local Government Area, causing shock and grief among residents and commuters who regularly ply the route. According to information gathered by LMSINT MEDIA, the crash happened at approximately 8:33 a.m. on Monday, when the trailer, reportedly moving at high speed, rammed into the bus conveying passengers. Confirming the development, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Gombe State, Samson Kaura, disclosed details of the accident during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday. Kaura explained that a total of 18 persons were involved in the road mishap. Out of this number, nine people lost their lives instantly, while five others sustained varying degrees of injuries and were affected differently by the impact of the collision. He further stated that four passengers escaped unhurt, despite the severity of the crash. The incident highlights ongoing concerns about speeding heavy-duty vehicles on major highways, especially in communities where buses and trailers frequently share narrow or poorly regulated roads. Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of speed control, proper vehicle maintenance, and strict adherence to traffic regulations to prevent further loss of lives on Nigerian roads.
