President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially appointed Mr. Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the Acting Accountant General of the Federation (AGF). The announcement came through Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, in a statement issued on Tuesday. Seamless Transition in Treasury Administration The appointment follows the pre-retirement leave of Dr. (Mrs.) Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, the outgoing AGF. According to Onanuga, the move ensures a smooth transition and continuity in managing Nigeria’s treasury, aligning with the administration’s treasury policy reforms. An Experienced Financial Leader Mr. Ogunjimi, a veteran civil servant with over three decades of expertise in financial management, emerges as the most senior director in the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF). His extensive career includes roles such as: Robust Qualifications A distinguished professional, Mr. Ogunjimi holds multiple certifications and qualifications: Presidential Endorsement President Tinubu expressed his trust in Ogunjimi’s capabilities, stating: “The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation is pivotal to our nation’s treasury management operations. Mr. Ogunjimi’s wealth of experience and notable competence will ensure the continued effectiveness of this vital institution as we advance our economic reform agenda.” The President also lauded Dr. Madein for her dedication and exemplary service to the nation during her tenure.
