The European Union delegation in Nigeria has unveiled a valuable traineeship programme tailored for young Nigerian graduates who are passionate about diplomacy and international affairs. This six-month opportunity is structured to provide hands-on exposure within the delegation’s Political, Press, and Information (PPI) Section, offering a deeper understanding of diplomatic operations and global engagement. According to an official announcement released by the European Union Delegation to Nigeria, the traineeship is scheduled to commence around July 2026. Interested applicants are expected to complete and submit their applications no later than May 8, 2026. This programme is specifically designed to immerse participants in the real-world workings of a diplomatic mission. Selected candidates will gain practical knowledge of how the EU advances its policies, interests, and values within Nigeria’s socio-political and economic landscape. The initiative aims to bridge academic learning with professional diplomatic practice. Successful applicants will actively contribute to a variety of tasks within the PPI Section. These responsibilities include preparing analytical reports on Nigeria’s internal political environment, human rights developments, economic trends, regional dynamics, and foreign policy matters relevant to EU priorities. Participants will also assist in organizing official meetings, documenting proceedings, and supporting communication-related activities. In addition, trainees will play a role in public diplomacy initiatives, including events and outreach programmes. They will also contribute to the preparation and coordination of official visits from the European External Action Service headquarters and other EU institutions, gaining exposure to high-level diplomatic engagements. To apply for this traineeship, candidates are required to submit a complete application package. This includes a Europass CV, a well-written cover letter, and a duly filled application form.
