Djerrum, who also heads the Trade Department at the Danish Embassy, highlighted that Governor Peter Mbah’s vision aligns with Denmark’s values. Enugu as a Model for Development Djerrum noted that Enugu State stands out as a prime example of Nigeria’s potential, countering negative stereotypes. “People often search for bad news, but we want to showcase the good. Enugu demonstrates transparency, accountability, and traceability—values that Denmark strongly upholds,” she remarked. She expressed admiration for several of Enugu’s development initiatives, including: “We are eager to determine how Denmark can contribute to these efforts,” Djerrum added, highlighting the presence of Danish companies in the state, including a tractor supply and assembly facility. Denmark also hopes to support renewable energy, waste management, and capacity building, with agriculture identified as a priority sector for collaboration. Governor Mbah’s Vision for Economic Growth Governor Peter Mbah reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to making Enugu a top investment destination. He emphasized the state’s goal of expanding its economy sevenfold to $30 billion within six years. Enugu has already secured partnerships with Danish firms, including an agreement with ODK Group to supply tractors and establish an assembly plant. Further investments in agriculture include: “Agriculture is the backbone of our economy, contributing 40% to our GDP. We are creating a business-friendly environment that minimizes investment risks,” Mbah stated. Additionally, Enugu has secured $20 million for livestock investment and is developing a ranch capable of accommodating over 20,000 cows.
