Shaffy Bello Declares: “I’m Not Interested in Fun Anymore” — Speaks on Dating and Marriage at 54

Veteran Nollywood actress Shaffy Bello has opened up about her current perspective on relationships, revealing that even at the age of 54, she still receives advances from younger men online. Speaking candidly, she shared her sentiments about the direct messages (DMs) she receives, especially from much younger admirers. She admitted it can be flattering but not always respectful. “Yes, I still get DMs from men. When you’re over 50 and young men still message you, it feels good — it’s flattering. But some of them approach very poorly. Some will just say things like, ‘Hi dear.’ At that point, you just feel like insulting their mother,” she expressed. This revelation came during a recent interview on the Dear Ife Podcast, where Bello clarified her current stance on romantic relationships, particularly with younger men. She made it clear that she is no longer open to dating younger partners. Shaffy explained that although she had been in such a relationship before, it was purely for enjoyment, and that phase of her life has passed. “I can’t date a younger man anymore. I don’t see any reason to. I’ve been in that kind of relationship before — it was for fun and for a specific season. That season is over for me. I’m now looking for something different. There’s nothing wrong with dating someone younger, but I’ve moved past that,” she said. The movie icon emphasized that her current desire is for a committed union, highlighting how her expectations have evolved over time. “At this stage in my life, I know exactly what I want — and that is marriage. I’m open to it, but I have a very different understanding of what marriage means compared to the general Nigerian perception. Many people are too rigid in their view of marriage. I’ll just leave it at that,” Bello added. Shaffy Bello was previously married to Akinrimisi, a union that lasted from 1995 until 2020. The marriage produced two children.
