Veteran Nigerian goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi, has officially been released by South African Premier Division side, Marumo Gallants. The former Super Eagles shot-stopper is one of nine players let go by the club, Siwelele Sa Marumo, in preparation for the upcoming football season. Akpeyi, who is now 38 years old, had joined the club as a free agent during the previous summer transfer window. Despite his wealth of experience, he only managed to feature in seven league matches during the 2024/2025 season. Although there has been no confirmation yet regarding his next move, it remains uncertain whether Akpeyi will hang up his gloves or continue his professional career with a new club. Throughout his entire professional career, Akpeyi has remained active in the South African football league system, having previously played for prominent teams such as Chippa United, Kaizer Chiefs, and Moroka Swallows.
