Aminu Hassan, a 25-year-old from Dundubus, Daja LGA, has been taken into custody by Katsina State police officers on suspicion of providing financial support to armed bandits in Danmusa LGA and the adjacent areas. On November 19, 2024, the suspect was apprehended while on a regular patrol along the Yantumaki and Kankara highway, hiding two sets of military uniforms in a black polythene bag. In a statement released on Tuesday, Katsina Police Command spokesperson ASP Abubakar Sadiq revealed the arrest. He further disclosed that three other suspects—Lawal M. Ahmad (29), Isma’il Dalhatu (24), and Shafi’u Adamu (28), were apprehended as a result of further investigations. 14 sets of military clothes and one police uniform, according to ASP Sadiq, Authorities retrieved items that were purportedly meant to be delivered to the armed bandits for their illegal activities. He stated that “the suspects have admitted to their involvement in this criminal activity.” In a different occurrence, seven people were detained by the Katsina State Police Command on suspicion of raping four children between the ages of 13 and 14. After a report was filed at the Kaita Divisional Police Headquarters, the suspects—all of whom were Kaita LGA residents—were taken into custody on November 25, 2024. The suspects enticed the youngsters to one of the suspects’ homes, where they sexually assaulted them, according to ASP Sadiq. He mentioned that the detained suspects have admitted to the offences and would face charges in court after the inquiry is over. CP Musa Aliyu, the Katsina State Police Commissioner praised the Command’s personnel for their commitment and expertise in capturing these criminals. Although one officer was injured during the encounter, they are currently receiving treatment and are in stable condition. Criminal Hideouts Raided in Sokoto In Sokoto State, police operatives partnered with other security agencies to raid terrorist black spots and bandit camps on November 25, 2024. The operation led to the recovery of multiple AK-47 rifles and loaded magazines. While the bandits fled upon seeing the approaching security team, efforts are ongoing to apprehend the culprits. Kidnapping Attempt Foiled in Delta Police operatives in Delta State acted swiftly to foil an attempted kidnapping in Asaba on November 28, 2024. Following a gun battle, the suspects abandoned their operational vehicle and fled into a nearby bush. Security forces recovered three AK-47 rifles, two pump-action guns, one AK-47 magazine, eight rounds of ammunition, and 21 live cartridges.
