Early Life and Education Born on December 7, 1963, in Edo State, Nigeria, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome is the third of seven children in the family of Tim and Angelina Oyakhilome. Among his siblings are five sisters and one brother, all actively involved in the operations of LoveWorld Incorporated (Christ Embassy). Pastor Chris attended Edo College and later gained a scholarship to study Architecture at Bendel State University (now Ambrose Alli University) in Ekpoma, Edo State. Family Life On February 2, 1991, Pastor Chris married Anita Ebhodaghe, and the couple was blessed with two daughters, Sharon and Charlene. Ministry Beginnings Pastor Chris’s ministry began during his university days. While at Ambrose Alli University, he founded a youth ministry called Youth for Christ, which became the largest student fellowship on campus. Later, the name evolved into Believers’ LoveWorld (BLW), widely known today as Christ Embassy. After his graduation in 1987, Pastor Chris established a church in Benin City before relocating to Lagos in 1989. BLW rapidly grew, expanding its reach to higher institutions and cities worldwide. Pastor Chris Oyakhilome DSc DSc DD Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father (John 14:12). What we just read are some of the most extraordinary words from the lips of the Master. He said those who believe in Him, not only will they do the same works that He did, but they’ll do greater works. This is only possible because Jesus has ascended to the Father, and through the Holy Spirit, His work continues through us. Recall what the Scripture says in lsaiah 53:10, “Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.” This verse speaks prophetically of the Church, the body of Christ, as the seed of Jesus Christ. It tells us that after His vicarious sacrifice, the Lord Jesus will see His seed—the Church—and we shall prolong His days. Hallelujah! That’s what’s going on; Jesus multiplies Himself through the Church today; He continues His mission through us. In Acts 1:1, Luke writes to Theophilus about “…all that Jesus began both to do and teach.” The key word here is “began”; Jesus started the work, but we continue it. We are the extension of His ministry, teaching, impacting and transforming lives as He did. The same Spirit that anointed Jesus for His work resides in us, enabling us to continue and expand upon what He started. Through the Holy Spirit, we’re empowered to reach more people and impact more lives for the Kingdom of God. Acts 1:8 says, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” The Church is the extension of Christ on earth, living in His power and authority, fulfilling His mission. This is a calling of great honour and responsibility. We’re His hands, His feet, and His voice in this world, carrying out the will of the Father just as Jesus did. PRAYERDear Father, thank you for the privilege of being a part of the body of Christ. I’m forever grateful that through the Holy Spirit, I’m empowered to do your will and establish your righteousness. I walk in this calling with boldness and faith, knowing that my life glorifies you. I’m a new creation, not subject to the elements of this world. I live a transcendent life! I live above the limitations of the human body and the physical realm through the ability of God’s Spirit. Health, peace, joy, and the glorious life are my present-hour inheritance. I am a king and a priest unto God and my words are full of power and authority; therefore I live a life of victory, success, divine health, abundance, excellence, and glory. I can never be small, the Spirit of God is magnifying my voice and influence around the nations of the world. The anointing of God’s Spirit has set me apart for greatness, causing me to spread and make progress on every side. In my business, job, career, finances, academics, family, and in all that concerns me. I have sound knowledge and understanding. I have strength, might, and power. I speak excellent and princely things. I have an understanding heart. The opening of my lips are for right things. My words are all righteous. I speak the truth always. God has given me wisdom. There is nothing beyond me. There is nothing I cannot handle. I have a wise and discerning heart. Christ is my excellent wisdom. Nothing and no one can hurt or come against me successfully, for I have the unconquerable life of God. Satan and the powers of darkness are under my feet; therefore, I have nothing to fear. The impulses of fear have been completely disabled from my life. Irrespective of the situation, I’m bold and courageous, speaking the Word in faith in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
