However, in a recent interview with Complex, Ayra Starr confidently declared that the throne belongs to Wizkid. The Mavin Records star explained her decision to feature the Starboy Entertainment boss on her chart-topping song “Gimme Dat.” According to her, no other artiste could deliver the level of smoothness, charisma, and originality that Wizkid brings to Afrobeats. “Nobody else could have been right on that song [‘Gimme Dat’] aside from Wizkid. Even just his sonics and the sound, the chorus pattern feels very Wizkid; it feels very like sexy Afrobeats. And everybody knows Wizkid is the king of sexy Afrobeats,” Ayra Starr said during the interview.
