President Bola Tinubu has expressed confidence in the All Progressives Congress (APC) attracting more members from opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections. This statement follows the APC’s National Summit, where the party’s leadership and the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) endorsed Tinubu as their sole presidential candidate. The endorsements indicate a strong internal consensus within the APC, minimizing potential intra-party challenges to Tinubu’s re-election bid. This consolidation comes amid speculations about opposition parties forming new alliances, possibly under platforms like the African Democratic Congress (ADC), prompting the APC to reinforce its unity early. Notably, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, his predecessor Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, and the state’s PDP structure have joined the ruling party. In Kano State, Senator Kawu Sumaila and some House members transitioned from the NNPP to the APC. The Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, has firmly rejected rumours suggesting that former President Muhammadu Buhari, former Attorney General Abubakar Malami, and other prominent figures might exit the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general election. Sule responded to circulating speculations that members of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) faction were considering leaving APC after allegedly feeling sidelined by the Bola Tinubu administration. Speaking on Friday in Lafia, the governor stated that efforts to create divisions within the party had been unsuccessful. “There is no such thing as taking CPC out. Our father, former President Muhammadu Buhari, is CPC, and no one else,” Sule remarked. He continued, “When he says CPC is with you, it’s with you, and if he decides that CPC is not with you, then it’s not.
