In a bold move, Team New Nigeria (TNN), a rising political group, has announced plans to form a new political party to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 elections. Why TNN Is Breaking Away from APC Speaking at the inauguration of a harmonization committee in Kano, the National President of TNN, Modibbo Yakubun Farakwai, revealed the group’s dissatisfaction with APC’s performance since 2015. Farakwai described Tinubu’s administration as a disappointment, citing its failure to address critical issues like security, poverty, and unemployment. According to Farakwai: “We were part of the coalition that brought APC to power in 2015. Looking back, we deeply regret that decision. The APC has failed Nigerians in every critical area—hunger, insecurity, and economic development. The country is worse off today.” Plans for TNN’s Political Registration The group has already approached the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to formalize its registration as a political party. Farakwai confirmed that TNN has prepared essential documents, including the party’s name, logo, manifesto, constitution, and flag, which have been submitted to INEC for approval. “With the support of millions of Nigerians, we are determined to offer a credible alternative to APC’s leadership,” Farakwai stated.
