Tinubu Explains Why FCT Was Removed from TSA to Boost Development

President Tinubu’s Decision on TSA Removal for FCT President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has disclosed that his administration removed the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) from the Treasury Single Account (TSA) to enhance infrastructure growth and fast-track development in Abuja. This revelation came during a Sallah homage visit by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and members of the Abuja community at the Presidential Villa. How TSA Affected FCT Development In a statement issued by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu highlighted that the TSA system was restricting developmental projects in the FCT. He explained that lifting these financial restrictions has paved the way for accelerated infrastructure improvements, better healthcare services, and enhanced security measures in Abuja. According to the president, Minister Wike represents the diversity of Nigeria and has been instrumental in implementing transformative projects in the capital. The Impact of TSA Removal on Abuja’s Growth President Tinubu recalled that when Minister Wike requested the FCT’s exclusion from TSA, he presented a clear developmental plan. Upon granting the request, the president noticed significant improvements, including: A More Efficient Public Service in FCT Tinubu praised Wike for restructuring the FCT public service, allowing civil servants to aspire to leadership positions and contribute meaningfully to governance. He emphasized that the removal of bureaucratic barriers has been instrumental in achieving these milestones. Unity and Progress: Tinubu’s Vision for Nigeria The president urged Nigerians to look beyond ethnic and religious divisions when choosing leaders. He highlighted that Nigeria’s unity and diversity should be sources of strength, enabling progress and development. “We are not seeking magic; we are seeking results, comfort, and good health,” Tinubu stated. He reiterated that governance is a collective responsibility and commended Minister Wike for fostering national unity through his commitment to development. Wike Reaffirms Loyalty and Commitment to Abuja’s Transformation In his remarks, Minister Wike expressed gratitude to the president for allowing FCT residents to extend their greetings in person during the Sallah celebration. He reaffirmed his dedication to completing numerous ongoing projects in the capital and supporting Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. “Despite our diverse backgrounds, we are united in our unwavering support for your administration,” Wike stated.
