Truck Driver, Motor Boy Arrested in Ogun for Beating Man to Death
The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended a truck driver, Olalere Timileyin, and his motor boy at Obada Oko, Ewekoro Local Government Area, for allegedly assaulting a man to death over accusations of stealing a tarpaulin.
The incident was confirmed by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, in a statement released on Saturday.
According to Odutola, a resident, Alao Fadipe, reported the incident at around 3 a.m. on Friday, December 13. Fadipe stated that he witnessed a violent altercation in front of his house at Iyana Ikereku. Upon investigation, he observed Timileyin and his motor boy, both linked to a cement factory in Itori, allegedly beating the victim until he lost consciousness.
Responding swiftly to the report, officers from the Obada Oko Police Division arrived at the scene and detained the suspects. The injured man was immediately rushed to the State Hospital in Ijaye for medical attention. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
SP Odutola revealed that the victim’s body has been deposited at the morgue for an autopsy, while efforts are being made to contact his family. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in Eleweran for further investigation.
The Ogun State Police Command also issued a stern warning to residents against engaging in acts of violence, especially during the festive season, to avoid disruptions of public peace.
