Vice President Kashim Shettima is scheduled to officially receive the Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, into the All Progressives Congress (APC) during a planned political event taking place on Tuesday in Gusau, the capital city of the state.
The announcement was made by the Zamfara State Chairman of the APC, Tukur Maikatako, who confirmed that the Vice President will lead members of the party’s national leadership to the state in order to conduct the formal reception ceremony. According to him, the visit is part of a broader effort by the party to reinforce unity, strengthen cooperation among members, and expand political inclusiveness across Zamfara State.
Speaking during a stakeholders’ gathering held in Gusau on Saturday, Maikatako explained that the planned visit represents a significant moment for the party, especially as it aims to rebuild internal cohesion and create a stronger political structure ahead of future elections. He noted that the presence of the Vice President highlights the importance the party places on the development of the state and the need for collective participation by all members.
Maikatako described the occasion as an opportunity to welcome back a political figure who had previously been associated with the party, stressing that the APC remains open to individuals who are committed to governance, progress, and national development. He added that the leadership of the party believes that unity among members will play a key role in strengthening its influence not only within Zamfara but also across the country.
The state chairman further urged party supporters from all parts of the state to participate actively in the reception ceremony. He specifically called on members from the 147 wards spread across the 14 local government areas to attend the event in large numbers, explaining that the visit is expected to boost the party’s popularity and reinforce its position ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, the leadership of the APC is focused on building a stronger political family where disagreements are resolved through dialogue and cooperation. He emphasised that putting aside internal divisions will help the party perform better in future electoral contests and ensure that its policies are effectively implemented for the benefit of the people.
Maikatako also reiterated that the party’s main objective is to promote the growth and prosperity of Zamfara State while contributing to the overall progress of Nigeria. He encouraged members to remain committed to party ideals and to engage their communities positively in order to attract more supporters and promote harmony within the political structure.
He concluded by stating that the upcoming visit by the Vice President is not only a ceremonial event but also a strategic move aimed at consolidating the party’s strength, encouraging loyalty among members, and preparing the APC for greater political success in the coming years.
