Saudi Arabia’s ‘Sleeping Prince’ Al Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal Passes Away After 19 Years in Coma

Prince Al Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal, famously recognized as the ‘Sleeping Prince,’ and a notable member of the Saudi royal lineage, has died after remaining in a coma for close to 19 years. His prolonged unresponsive state was the result of a tragic car accident that occurred in 2005.

The prince, a nephew of billionaire Saudi investor Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, sustained critical injuries in the crash that led to his extended hospitalisation and coma. Since that fateful day, Prince Al Waleed remained unconscious, symbolizing hope, patience, and unwavering faith across the Arab world.

Many within the region revered him as a representation of spiritual endurance, with his family and followers holding onto the possibility of his recovery for almost two decades.

News of his passing was confirmed by family sources on Saturday. According to reports, preparations were underway for his funeral, which is scheduled to be held in Riyadh on Sunday.
