Ogidi Killing: Every Life Is Sacred and Must Be Protected — Akpabio

The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has emphasized the urgent need for justice and stronger accountability systems in Nigeria following the alleged extra-judicial killing of 28-year-old Mene Ogidi.

Speaking before lawmakers, Akpabio described the incident as deeply troubling, stating that it challenges the ethical foundation of the country and requires immediate attention from both legislative authorities and security institutions.

Before proceeding with legislative duties, he addressed the chamber, highlighting the tragic loss of Mene Ogidi, a young Nigerian whose death has sparked widespread concern.

According to reports, Ogidi, who hails from Ujevwu in Udu Local Government Area, was fatally shot on April 26, 2026, under circumstances that have raised serious questions about the use of force by law enforcement officers.
