The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reported the loss of four officers following an ambush by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in the Farin-Kasa area of Chukun Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
Incident Details
The tragic incident occurred on November 18 when the NSCDC’s monitoring team was inspecting the national grid installation in Shiroro, Niger State. According to Afolabi Babawale, the NSCDC spokesperson, seven officers were initially declared missing after the attack.
In an update provided on Friday, Babawale confirmed that four of the missing officers have been found dead. Two others sustained injuries but managed to return to base, while one officer remains unaccounted for.
Commandant-General’s Response
Ahmed Audi, the NSCDC Commandant-General, expressed deep sorrow over the loss and extended condolences to the corps’ personnel and families affected. He praised the bravery and dedication displayed by the officers during the ambush and assured that the corps would cover all medical expenses for the injured.
He described the attack as a “brutal and devastating act of violence” and urged intensified efforts to prevent similar incidents. Audi also called on the public to collaborate with the NSCDC and other security agencies to enhance safety measures and protect critical infrastructure.
Public Appeal
The Commandant-General emphasized the importance of community support in combating threats to national security. He encouraged citizens to provide actionable intelligence to security agencies, underscoring that collective efforts are crucial in safeguarding lives and property.
