Nigeria Is Burning, Yet Music Keeps Playing – Mr Real Criticizes Fellow Artists

Popular Nigerian Afrobeats singer Mr Real has expressed strong concerns about the current state of the country, calling out fellow musicians and entertainment lovers for continuing with music releases and nightlife activities despite the worsening insecurity situation across Nigeria.

The “Legbegbe” crooner voiced his frustration in a recent video broadcast, where he accused some artists of being insensitive to the reality many Nigerians are facing daily. According to him, the constant reports of violence, killings, and unrest have made it difficult for him to focus on releasing new songs.

Mr Real explained that the atmosphere in the country does not feel right for entertainment, noting that he personally feels uncomfortable promoting music while many citizens are living in fear.

He stated that he wakes up almost every day to disturbing news, which makes him question how some musicians are still able to release songs as if everything is normal. He added that although people have the right to live their lives, the level of insecurity in the country should make everyone more conscious and reflective.

The singer also criticised the culture of partying and clubbing during such a tense period, saying that it appears as if many people have become used to bad situations. He described the country as being in a dangerous state, where insecurity has become so common that some individuals now treat it like a normal part of life.

According to him, the situation feels unnatural, as if citizens have become emotionally numb to serious national problems. He stressed that while enjoyment and personal happiness are important, there should also be awareness and concern about what is happening around the country.

Security challenges such as kidnappings, bandit attacks, and violent crimes have continued to raise concerns among citizens and public figures, with many calling for stronger action from authorities and more unity among Nigerians.
