NASS Complex Under Tight Security as Anxiety Rises Over Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Expected Return

The National Assembly Complex in Abuja is currently under heightened security surveillance amid growing tension following reports that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who was suspended, plans to return to the legislative chamber today, Tuesday.

According to a report from LMSINT MEDIA, Senator Natasha publicly declared on Saturday her firm intention to resume official legislative duties on Tuesday, July 22. She referenced a ruling delivered by Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja as the legal foundation for her planned return to plenary.

Despite her assertion, the leadership of the Senate, through the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, issued a rebuttal on Sunday. In his statement, Adaramodu downplayed the claim made by Senator Natasha, stressing that the court judgment she referred to was not binding. Instead, he described the ruling as “an advisory opinion” rather than a compulsory mandate for the Senate to reinstate her.

Nonetheless, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan remains adamant about her decision to resume her senatorial responsibilities despite the Senate’s stance.

Meanwhile, a viral video currently circulating on various social media platforms shows a significant increase in the number of security operatives, including heavily armed personnel, stationed at the entrance of the National Assembly Complex. This action is presumably to forestall any potential breach of peace or public order that may arise from the senator’s controversial return attempt.
