In a significant political development, the Benue State House of Assembly has officially reinstated the last batch of seven lawmakers previously suspended since February 2025. This decision marks the end of a protracted disciplinary process that had captivated the interest of the public and media alike.

The legislators reinstated are Douglas Akya representing Makurdi South, Mrs. Becky Orpin from Gboko East, Hon. Manger Manger of Tarka constituency, Ezrah Nyiyongu from Ukum, Jonathan Agbidye of Katsina Ala East, and Samuel Agada.

Their reinstatement comes shortly after six other suspended colleagues were recalled by the House just a month prior.

During the Assembly’s plenary session, the Majority Leader, Comrade Saater Tiseer, presented the formal letter that outlined the lawmakers’ request for reinstatement. The document indicated that the suspended members had shown genuine remorse and provided assurances to maintain honorable conduct in future engagements.

The motion to recall these members enjoyed widespread support across the House, with notable backing from Bemdoo Ipusu and Elias Audu. Both legislators acknowledged the sincerity of the suspended lawmakers and encouraged the Assembly to exercise forgiveness.

In appreciation of the resolution, several members of the Assembly praised Speaker Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh and the leadership of the House. They lauded the leadership’s generosity and strategic approach in resolving the matter, emphasizing that such magnanimity strengthens democratic institutions.
