Soccer analyst Herculez Gomez has publicly advised Inter Miami’s co‑owner, Jorge Mas, that superstar Lionel Messi requires stronger support on the pitch.

Gomez made these remarks shortly after Inter Miami suffered elimination from the CONCACAF Champions Cup on Wednesday evening.

In his assessment, he argued that Miami’s defensive unit is overly vulnerable, pointing out that the backline lacks physical dynamism and consistent performance to withstand pressure.

Despite Messi finding the back of the net, Inter Miami were held to a 1‑1 stalemate with Nashville SC in the second leg of their Round of 16 matchup.

Because of the away goals rule, Nashville advanced to the next round, eliminating Miami from the continental competition.

Taking to social media platform X, Gomez wrote: “Inter Miami owner Jorge Mas wants Copa Libertadores.. Focus on the CONCACAF Champions Cup first, another painful elimination. Messi needs help. This team still lacks legs and stability at the back.”

His comments underline concerns that the team’s current defensive resources are insufficient to complement Messi’s attacking excellence, especially in high‑stakes tournaments.

This criticism follows a pattern of recent performances where Miami’s rearguard has been exposed, suggesting that investment in reinforcements may be necessary if the club is to fulfill its ambitions both regionally and internationally.
