Former Kano State governor and vice presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has reacted to the large turnout of supporters who gathered to welcome him during a brief stopover in Bichi Local Government Area of Kano State.
Kwankwaso, a prominent figure in northern Nigerian politics and leader of the Kwankwassiyya Movement, received the reception while returning from a visit to Katsina State, where he had paid a condolence visit to the family of late Major General Rabe Abubakar (Rtd).
A video circulating online showed hundreds of supporters filling the area around the NDC office in Bichi as they gathered to catch a glimpse of the former governor. The gathering highlighted the continued enthusiasm among his supporters in Kano, a state where Kwankwaso has maintained strong political influence for years.
Reacting to the development, Kwankwaso described the welcome as unexpected and deeply encouraging. In a message shared on his social media platform, he said he was moved by the excitement and energy displayed by the people of Bichi.
“Returning from Katsina tonight, I was overwhelmed by the joyful and energetic reception from the good people of Bichi, Kano State,” he wrote.
He further expressed appreciation for the support, adding: “Thank you for the tremendous love.”
The reception comes amid ongoing political activities and increased public engagement by major political figures across Nigeria. Kano remains a strategic political region, often regarded as a key area in national elections due to its large population and active electorate.
